2011: An Outstanding Year of Accomplishments for Attorney Matthew Mendelsohn

February 02, 2012

As the onset of a new year begins, it is typical for anyone to look back in reflection on the previous year's happenings, legal professionals included. For Mr. Mendelsohn, reflection upon the year of 2011 would be a look back at some of his firm's greatest successes. Beginning in January, the AVVO rated lawyer was appointed as Co-Lead Class Counsel in a putative class action suit against the large auto corporation, Volvo. Mr. Mendelsohn played an integral role in defending the victims of car defects in a number of the company's vehicles, including S40, S60, S80, V50, V70, and XC90. Only months later, in April, M. Mendelsohn was again recognized in the settlement of Poplawski v. Phipps – a case that involved a 21-year old woman who suffered severe injuries after being struck by a school bus. Under the representation of Mr. Mendelsohn, the case reached an impressive $6 million settlement.

The year continued to yield success for Mr. Mendelsohn and his law firm, as another winning decision was again reached under his jurisdiction in May. A plaintiff suffering from severe burns enlisted the help of Mendelsohn in a product liability lawsuit brought against five defendants. When all was said and done, Mr. Mendelsohn was able to obtain a $4.7 million settlement for his plaintiff. The year was brought to a close with yet another success, as Mendelsohn was involved in three of New Jersey's top 20 largest verdicts and settlements of the year. Among these included the year's number one settlement within the state – a Volkswagon case which was recognized in the New Jersey Law Journal's Legal Almanac.

In total, it would be difficult to look back on a year such as that described above in disappointment. The positive influence that Mr. Mendelsohn had on the cases he winningly represented comes as little surprise when looking at his long list of accolades. Both Super Lawyers and AVVO have recognized the attorney for his accomplishments, taking notice of the steadfast commitment he devotes to each and every case on which he serves. Not for nothing is the lawyer a member of the Brain Injury Association of New Jersey, the Brain Injury Litigation Network, the Essex County Bar Association, and the John C. Lifeland American Inn of Court. These are memberships that entail high winning potential and significant legal capabilities. 2011 was a successful year for Mr. Mendelsohn, and by looking at his case history since his firm's inception, it is likely to be one that is followed by years more of similar winning results.
