In Wyoming, the Supreme Court there has reversed an elder abuse conviction of a man who they now claim his actions didn't meet the state's legal definition of abuse. Ricky L. Dougherty was convicted of abusing a vulnerable adult as he allegedly sexually touched himself in front of a woman in a hospital. Prosecutors have not decided if they will refile charges. The woman has since passed away.
We all trust in others and nursing homes to care for our loved ones who need extra help and they should be doing their jobs. With this, it is incredibly heartbreaking when a nursing home is found to be abusing or neglecting those who they should be providing care for on a daily basis. It's important that you know that your loved one does not have to suffer nursing home abuse and can hold the guilty party responsible for their careless actions. By contacting a nursing home abuse lawyer, you can pursue a case against the abuser and recover expenses for medical care and pain and suffering. A nursing home abuse attorney will always protect your rights while resolving this matter in a timely manner. If you or someone you know has suffered from nursing home abuse then you should contact a nursing home abuse lawyer to begin discussing the details of your case and moving forward to settle this unfortunate matter.
